Reductio Ad Absurdum .. and you!

Sorry for the lack of posting, but year 12 is living up to its expectations (and so is my super amazing ability to procrastinate).

Just to keep some of my readers in the loop, I'm currently doing 4 subjects this year.

Chemistry. 6/10
Math Methods. 6/10
Specialist Maths. 238949823489/10
English. 5/10

I have also rated the subjects out of ten due to the (sexual) frustration they give me.
The homework amount being given this year is quite the Brobdingnagian monstrosity, and it's killing the amount of time I get to blog about shit. Well actually the workload is much the same, but now that I actually have to do the work, it's killing my time. I do not apologize for this, sorry.

Anyway.

Reductio ad Absurdum, one of the most common philosophical/logical fallacies one can make. The art of taking something too far for the sake of your point (perhaps maybe this isn't a fallacy in itself until it goes extreme, but this can often lead to other fallacies, like the argument from final consequences (which, by the way, is the (ungraceful) art of turning to the consequence of your argument to support your argument, the classic point of failure in religion).

But before I turn the page to Reductio Ad Absurdum and you, let me first show you what I mean, with Reductio ad Absurdum, and me. Taking actions too far, taking jokes too far, taking anything too far. And while my reasoning may be sound and fair, my conclusion stops at nothing to see itself as absurd. Personal case in point, the hygiene of my hands. I pride myself on hand cleanliness readers, and if that means using my sleeve to open doors, bring hand sanitizer to school and to not touch toilet doors, then so be it. But I think there should be a line drawn. If I really were so concerned with the hygiene of my hands, should I be dealing with money? Surely I'd struggle to survive if I couldn't use my fingers to deal with monetary related issues? I think not.

And thus, a line quintessentially must be drawn. But the question is where? And the answer to that question is as subjective as the person who decides to answer it for himself or herself. Where the line is drawn for me is not where the line is drawn for you, nor you me. It is up to you to find your balance, your medium and your line to draw before you become a slave to your obsessions, whatever they may be.

Perhaps it is a bit late, but I also want to talk about the year in review, music/movies/television/games. By no means are these the best, they are just my favorite.

Album of the Year: Belle and Sebastian - Write about Love.
Movie of the Year: Inception/The Social Network.
Television show of the Year: The Big Bang Theory.
Game of the Year: Bayonetta/BlazBlue Continuum Shift/FIFA 11.

I'll think of more to add to the list.

Update shortly.
